What is a summer project?
Summer projects are three weeks in length, Monday through Friday (with the exception of July 4th and July 16th) and are an average of six hours long. The projects usually begin at 9 or 10 AM and end between 3 and 4 PM. As a member of the YIN of Oregon summer program, you will be part of a team of 6-15 youth that includes an AmeriCorps leader.
How do I register?
Decide which project (s) you would like to participate in and call the Camp Fire office at (503) 224-7800 and ask for Sarah Beth. Projects are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, so be sure to have the project number as well as the project title when calling. Please have a second choice ready in case your first choice is full! You can register for one project per session.
How much does it cost?
There is no cost to be in the YIN of Oregon summer program.
What do I need to bring to the project?
You must bring a lunch and water everyday. And don’t

forget sunscreen on those outdoor projects! After you
register, your Project Leader will send you a letter telling you what else you need to bring, as well as what you should wear during the project.
Where do teams meet?
Most teams meet at the site of the project. Some projects will meet and then travel together to the site. You will receive more information from your Project Leader after you register. Please note that the YIN of Oregon is unable to provide transportation and some projects may require the use of public transportation. In these cases, participants will be asked to provide their own tickets.
What are the benefits?
You will have a great time, meet new friends, learn about your communities’ needs, make a difference, learn new skills, gain experience and receive a letter of recommendation.
Can I bring a friend?
Sure! But they must also register with the YIN of Oregon before they can attend.

Thank you for your interest in our Summer Program. YIN of Oregon is a community-based program that provides opportunities for youth in the 6th-9th grades to become active citizens involved in addressing real community needs.
The Summer Program will begin June 25th and end August 3rd, 2001. There will be two, three-week sessions comprised of projects that explore a variety of issues. The sessions are divided into three regions: the Astoria, Clackamas and Portland areas. Please read on for more information about these exciting summer projects.
Set up query of location, time, and interests that will print descriptions of activities and dates that summer projects are available in their area/interests.
